(8 large cookies)
Ingredients
- 2 and 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
-1/8 teaspoon salt
-1/2 teaspoon baking powder
-2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
-1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
-1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
-1 large egg
-1 large egg white, lightly beaten
-2 tablespoons of nonpareils
Lets do this thing!
- Combine the flour,salt,and baking powder in a median bowl;set aside.
- Heat the chocolate in a double boiler over simmering water, stirring constantly until melted. let cool.
- Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla, whole egg, and melted chocolate.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, stirring until smooth. Flatten the dough into disk,wrap in plastic wrap, and let sit refrigerate for 1 hour.
- preheat oven to 350 F. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll the dough into 8 ropes, each about 10 inches long. Take the ends of each rope and form loop, crossing the ends. Secure firmly on the top and place on the cookie sheets 2 inches apart.
- Brush the cookies with the egg white, and sprinkle with nonpareils. Bake for 15-18 minutes. Transfer to a rack to cool.
